I'm Sure You've All Seen This One

I'll start with the most obvious example of a "business" that you might stumble on if you are looking for a way to make money at home in your spare time. Envelope stuffing. Now I'm not going to tell you that there has never been a reputable company that paid people to put stuff in envelopes at home. I don't know of such a company, but I'm willing to admit to the possibility that there was or is one, maybe even two.

So let's take a look at this (possibly imaginary) reputable company that pays people to stuff envelopes at home. You sign up, and some time later you receive a big box of envelopes and a big box of sales brochures and some instructions. What's missing? Well, you have to mail these things out, right? Where are the stamps? Well, stamps cost money, so the company has decided not to trust you quite that far. Instead, they promise to reimburse you for the postage when they pay you for stuffing the envelopes. Hmmmn.

OK, so you start stuffing in earnest, and after an hour or so your neck is tight and your fingers are getting sore and you're having a devil of a time peeling those darn address labels off of their backing. You take a step back and look at your work table and see that you have a good stack of maybe 200 stuffed and labeled envelopes -- and a sore back and a headache and sore fingers.

So, off to the post office you go and you find out that these envelopes are heavy with slick marketing materials. The post office wants 50 cents a piece for the postage, but you should be getting that back from the company any day now...right? So, you fork over your $100 to the nice man at the post office and head back home.

You send in the form stating that you have stuffed 200 envelopes, and patiently await your reimbursement and your payment for stuffing envelopes. And you wait, and you wait, and you wait. But remember, we said this was the reputable company (the one out of thousands that you might find on the web). So you do eventually get your nice big check in the mail for...$120. Your $100 back, plus ten cents apiece for stuffing the envelopes.

Well, just do that about 49 more times and you will have made your first $1000!

This is your home based business. Sore back, bloody fingers, lots of your money going out in order to get just a little bit more back... ...is that your idea of the perfect home based business for you?

OK, before we look at another one, lets review what is really wrong with this one. You might be surprised by my list.

1) Each time you work hard, you get paid for that work only once.
2) You have to pay out a bunch of money over and over again.
3) Each bit of work that you do brings in a paltry sum of money.
4) If you take some time off, the guy sending you checks does too.
5) Stuffing envelopes is, well, lets face it. It's BORING!

OK, that's the end of my list. "But wait, you didn't mention all the hard back-breaking work!" That's true, I didn't. Any good business requires some hard work. That's what separates it from a get rich quick scheme. If you feel the list is inexcusably incomplete without that missing item, then you have come to the wrong place. This site is for people who want to build their own profitable home based business.

I will show you a way to make it easy by taking all of the complexity out of it, but it still takes work. It will also be "easy" because it will be fun. I know this in advance because YOU are the one who will choose the business, and the primary thing you will use to pick it is this...is it something I love to do?

Now let's look at another example...
